Dear
Pope Alien web master.
A
problem with your web site has recently been brought
to my attention. Please see attached jpeg to verify
that Pope Alien is in copyright infringement of Popeyelien--copyrighted
in 1942 by Feisler Production, Fabulous Films Inc and
King Feature Films. The character of Popeyelien appeared
in two Popeye shorts (The Fuherer's Dirty Lederhosen"
1942 and the musical "U Boat, Show Boat, My Boat" in
1944.)
In
addition to the obvious visual similarities (see attached
Jpeg from a 1942 cell) there is the added problem of
Australia. As you are no doubt aware a national speech
impediment prevents speakers of (we use the word loosely
in this context) "Australian English" from pronouncing
Popealien in it's natural cadence. In fact, Downunder
Popealien is said exactly the same as Popeyelien. We
therefore demand you not only change the look of your
character, but the name too. We have researched some
possible names: Eddy the Egghead Gnome or Hay Zues the
wacky cross head.
You
should also be aware that the copyright to Popeyelien
is now held jointly by General Motors, Microsoft and
McDonalds who intend to launch the Popeyelien character
this spring to replace Ronald McDonald and the Window's
Logo (GM will also name a new mini-van after the character
later in the year.) You may like to know that all three
companies have put their combined legal departments
behind an effort to remove your copy-cat character from
the internet and any other venue it may appear. In closing
we can only hope that you are reasonable and promptly
alter the name and look of your character or face the
consequences. Resistance is Futile.
Have
a Nice Day,
T Nagaoka
